Our Use of Artificial Intelligence
We believe AI should help people - not replace them. Here is an honest account of how and why we use AI on ListGarum.
ListGarum uses AI in specific, limited ways to improve your experience on our platform. We are committed to using AI transparently, responsibly, and always under human oversight. This page explains exactly what we use AI for, what we do not use it for, and how we protect your data in the process.
What we use AI for
AI-Assisted Listing Descriptions
When creating a new listing, sellers can optionally use our AI writing assistant to generate a first-draft description. The seller provides the title, category, price, and location - and the AI suggests a concise, friendly ad body. The seller reviews and edits before publishing. The AI never posts on your behalf.
AI-Powered Search
Our AI Search feature lets you describe what you are looking for in plain language - for example, "used Honda under 5 lakhs in Kathmandu". The AI extracts structured filters (category, keywords, price range, location, condition) and searches our live listings database. No personal data is stored as part of this query.
Content Moderation Assistance
We use automated tools to help flag listings that may violate our Posting Rules - such as prohibited items, spam patterns, or potentially misleading descriptions. These flags are reviewed by a human moderator before any action is taken. AI is a tool to assist our team, not replace human judgment.
What we do NOT use AI for
We want to be equally clear about what is off the table:
- Make automated decisions that affect your account without human review.
- Generate, infer, or store sensitive personal information about users.
- Train AI models on your private listings, messages, or account data.
- Use AI to conduct targeted advertising or build user profiles for third parties.
- Replace human customer support for complaints or appeals.
Third-party AI providers
Some AI features on ListGarum are powered by third-party large language model (LLM) providers. These providers process your input (e.g. a search query or listing title) to generate a response. We select providers that:
- Do not use submitted prompts to train their models by default.
- Operate under data processing agreements with appropriate privacy protections.
- Are subject to rate limits and input sanitisation to prevent misuse.
Inputs sent to AI features may be temporarily logged for abuse detection and quality monitoring. These logs are not linked to your identity and are deleted on a rolling basis.
Your control
AI features on ListGarum are always optional:
- The AI description generator is an opt-in button on the listing creation form - you are never required to use it.
- AI Search is a separate mode - the standard keyword search remains fully available.
- You can skip AI features entirely and use ListGarum exactly as you would any other classifieds platform.
AI accuracy and limitations
AI-generated content can be inaccurate, misleading, or incomplete. Sellers are responsible for reviewing any AI-suggested listing description before publishing and ensuring all details are correct. ListGarum does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated text and is not liable for errors in AI-assisted content.
AI Search results are based on available listings at the time of the query and may not always match your intent perfectly. If you cannot find what you are looking for, try the standard search with keywords.
Updates to this policy
As our use of AI evolves, we will update this page to reflect any new features or changes. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Last updated: May 2026.
