ListGarum connects buyers and sellers - but your safety is your responsibility too. Follow these guidelines to buy and sell with confidence.
Important: ListGarum does not handle payments or guarantee transactions. All deals are made directly between buyers and sellers. We are not responsible for any loss arising from transactions made outside our platform.
Meet in a Safe Public Place
- Always meet buyers or sellers in a busy public location - a café, shopping mall, or bank lobby.
- Avoid meeting at your home or the seller's home for the first time.
- Bring a friend or family member whenever possible.
- Let someone you trust know where you are going and who you are meeting.
Inspect Before You Pay
- Always inspect the item in person before handing over any money.
- Test electronics, vehicles, or appliances before completing the deal.
- For vehicles, check the registration and ownership documents carefully.
- If something looks too good to be true - it usually is.
Pay Safely
- Use digital payment methods such as eSewa or bank transfer - avoid large cash transactions.
- Never send money in advance to someone you have not met.
- Do not pay a deposit before seeing the item.
- Be wary of sellers who insist on cash only or ask for payment via gift cards.
Get Proper Documentation
- For high-value items (vehicles, electronics, property), ask for a receipt or proof of purchase.
- Verify ownership documents for vehicles - bluebook, insurance, and tax clearance.
- Take photos of the item and the seller's ID if you feel unsure.
- Keep a record of your transaction in case of any dispute later.
Recognise Scams & Fraud
- Be suspicious of buyers who offer to pay more than your asking price.
- Watch out for sellers who claim to be overseas and need you to pay first.
- Never share your bank OTP, PIN, or password with anyone.
- Fake job offers that ask for a registration fee upfront are scams - report them immediately.
- If a deal feels rushed or pressured, walk away.
Protect Your Personal Information
- Use the ListGarum messaging system instead of sharing your personal number publicly.
- Do not share your home address until you are confident in the other party.
- Be careful about how much personal information you include in your ad.
- Use a separate email address for classifieds if you prefer extra privacy.
Report Suspicious Activity
- If you see a listing that looks fake, fraudulent, or prohibited - report it using the "Report" button on the listing.

- Reporting helps protect other users in the community.
- Do not try to confront or negotiate with scammers - just report and move on.
