The system checks for patterns that are common in scams, such as prices that are far below market value, descriptions copied from other websites, references to overseas shipping or PayPal payments, and requests for a deposit before viewing. If a listing triggers the scam detector, it may be held for manual review or shown with a visible warning to buyers. The same system also scans incoming messages to flag anything suspicious before it reaches you.
