About This Category

Nepal's second-hand electronics market

Electronics is one of the most active categories on ListGarum. Nepal's import duties on electronics make new devices significantly more expensive than in India or China, which drives a strong and active second-hand market. Buyers can find well-maintained phones, laptops, and cameras at 30-60% below retail price.

Mobile phones are the single most listed item in the electronics category. iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, and Xiaomi devices are all popular. Most sellers are individuals upgrading to a newer model who want to recover some of the cost by selling their old device locally.

Laptops are the second most listed item, with student sellers trading in devices between university years and professionals upgrading their work machines. Brands like Lenovo, Dell, HP, and Apple are all common.

Listing electronics on ListGarum is free. Add clear photos showing the front, back, and any scratches or damage, set a fair price, and reach buyers across Nepal within hours. Our AI scam detector protects buyers from fake listings and inflated pricing.

Buyer's Guide

5 things to check before buying second-hand electronics

01

Check the IMEI number

For mobile phones, dial *#06# on the device to display the IMEI number. Check it against the box and the seller's documentation. A mismatched or blocked IMEI means the phone may be stolen or blacklisted and will not work on Nepal Telecom or Ncell networks.

02

Test battery health

On iPhones, check battery health in Settings > Battery. On Android, use a battery health app or dial *#*#4636#*#* on some models. For laptops, check the battery cycle count. A battery health below 75-80% will need replacement soon and should factor into your offer price.

03

Test all ports and functions

Before paying, test every port (USB, charging, headphone jack), the speakers, microphone, front and rear cameras, and all buttons. For laptops, test the keyboard, trackpad, all USB ports, and confirm the screen has no dead pixels. Issues found after payment are your problem.

04

Meet at a service centre

For high-value electronics, ask to meet at an authorised service centre or repair shop. A technician can run a quick diagnostic check on the device for a small fee. This is especially useful for iPhones, MacBooks, and cameras where internal damage is not visible from the outside.

05

Ask about remaining warranty

Many electronics sold second-hand in Nepal still have manufacturer warranty time remaining. Ask to see the original purchase receipt or warranty card. Remaining warranty adds real value - confirm with the brand's Nepal service centre that the warranty is transferable.
